More Than Team Building: What We Learned Building a Tiny Home Together

There’s something that happens when you step away from your day job to serve others. You gain perspective, build real connection, and realize your skills and energy are capable of more than you thought. Last week, members of my team found that out firsthand, volunteering to build a transitional tiny home for people experiencing homelessness. We came back with sawdust on our clothes, sore muscles, and a few lessons about teamwork and community that will live beyond our team week together.

The Upgrade to “Let Me Know If You Need Anything”

Memorial Day weekend has a way of making us think about community. The people who show up, the ones who serve, the ones who carry others through hard times. That spirit of showing up for each other doesn’t have to stop at the holiday weekend. In fact, it’s exactly the energy behind Meal Train, a service I recently tried and it’s now on my go-to resource list.

Happy Mothers Day! To the moms showing up even when the calendar is full and the timing isn’t perfect...this one’s for you. 🌸
I’m taking a little trip down memory lane today on the blog.
Back in early 2020, I almost said no to volunteering at my son Dylan’s middle school for Career Day.
Work was busy, my plate was full, and I’d pulled the classic move of offering to be a “backup” …fully expecting not to be called.
Spoiler alert: I was called.
What followed involved poster boards, a laptop demo, candy bribes, and the very humbling experience of trying to make digital marketing sound cool to 7th & 8th graders all while standing next to a fireman.
When it was over, I asked Dylan how he thought it went. His answer is the whole reason I wrote today’s post.
This Mother’s Day, I’m grateful for the yes I almost didn’t say. 🥰
Full story is on the blog. Link in bio.
