3-Part Review of Meal Prep Services. Part 3: HelloFresh

In this final post in a 3-part series, I’m reviewing the Meal Prep delivery service HelloFresh. Spoiler alert, this was one of our favorites!

Hello Fresh

I first heard about HelloFresh from my daughter, Mia. As a college student living in an apartment, she was juggling a lot: classes, exams, friendships and general college life! She started using the meal service to help her plan simple meals to make eating in easier.

Mia kept sending me these amazing photos of the meals she was making. They looked healthy and she reported that they tasted great and were simple to make. When I visited her for a short weekend visit, I got to try a couple of the meals and loved it! So of course I had to try for myself. #likemotherlikedaughter

How it Works

Much like Marley Spoon, you get to pick the meals that correlate to your needs (easy to make, healthy etc). You receive a box each week with all of the ingredients and recipes for the meals you selected. Easy!

So far, everyone in my family has enjoyed the meals. Here’s a sample of what we tried initially:

  • Walnut-crusted salmon with Garlicky Zucchini, Scallion Rice & Creamy Lemon Sauce
  • Melty Monterey Jack Burgers with Onion Jam, Garlic Mayo & Crispy Potato Wedges
  • Sunflower-crusted chicken with Lettuce, Apple & Parmesan Salad
  • Moo Shu Pork Bowls with Cabbage, Scallions & Buttery Rice

Here’s What I Loved About HelloFresh

These recipes sound fancy but are so easy to make and are repeatable. I was able to recreate one of the recipes that Mia and I made together in B.C. when I got back home and it was a hit. Each meal indicates how long it will take to prep and cook which is helpful during a busy workweek. It also includes nutrition info and ways to modify the recipe if you want. If you sign up for a weekly program, you do have a short window to select the meals you want to be delivered. If you miss that window, they will select the meals for you which may be a hit or miss. They have an app you can download to make it easy to manage your preferences but I did miss the window a few times which meant we had some surprise meals to try. Thankfully they didn’t send any meatloaf on the occasions I missed! Sorry for any meatloaf fans…that’s one meal I had way too much as a kid.

Here is a breakdown of my rating:

Honestly, there wasn’t much that we didn’t love about HelloFresh. Healthy, affordable and convenient are all great features. In the end, we decided to sign up for the program and received 3 meals a week. For us, this meal program was the winner among the three we tried!

Three months into 2026 and I’m officially a fan of the Big A## Calendar by @jesseitzler
Back in January I decided to try the idea of mapping the entire year visually as an experiment.
Turns out, seeing all 12 months at once is a surprisingly powerful way to plan with intention (and maybe stop overbooking my future self).
Nine months still to go…so if you’ve been curious, it’s definitely not too late to start.
If you want the backstory, head to the Career Insight Studio blog and search: “What Happens When You Plan 2026 the Jesse Itzler Way.”

New year, same busy plate.
Instead of adding more, I’m choosing to get more intentional.
At @careerinsightstudio, my focus for the next 12 chapters is simple: practical insights to help you get ahead without sacrificing your peace of mind.
Here’s to meaningful momentum over a packed schedule and managing life with a bit more purpose this year.
Extra breathing room encouraged.
Cheers to an amazing year ahead.
